Permaling founder, Soren Harner, bridges environmental business, social innovation, analytics and web/mobile application communities. He has held leadership roles of two successful startups, as VP of Engineering at Atlassian and Director of Engineering at Intraspect (now OpenText). As self-described “datavore”, he studied machine learning and artificial intelligence at Stanford University, and spent years working with large data sets.

Since starting Permaling, Soren has helped an environmental consulting company ready its web-based carbon management software for market. He advises businesses on innovation and sustainability, combining his extensive experience with lean / agile IT with a foundation of systems thinking.

In the area of systems thinking, Soren is one of the founding catalysts of Tranform Australia, a group committed to putting Australia on a sustainable path through a whole systems approach.
